| “ | Let's be honest. You're not supposed to be here. This is the single most high security, high clearance section of the whole factory. When someone finds you down here, you will be shot. | ” |

The Labs is presumably the primary setting for Chapter 5 of Poppy Playtime.
This location has the most advanced security system of the Playtime Co. factory and is the main location where the company's scientists created the experiments. After The Hour of Joy, The Prototype took over the Labs and transferred the remaining Playcare orphans to the location, where they remain in stasis.
Appearance[]
If it's to be assumed that the locations seen within promotional material for Chapter 5 are within The Labs, then it can be concluded that the facility contains various experimentation rooms which house surgical tools and operating beds. Bloodstains and a substance thought to be Poppy Gel are seen splattered along the floors. The area was created in a brutalist style, yet also features what appears to be a facade of an outdoor play area. The Labs are known to contain Port-A-Lounges.[10]
History[]
After an agreement was settled between Eddie M. N. Ritterman and Warrenbach Construction,[4] the Labs was constructed by the latter at some point before 1995, with countless scientists, such as P. W., working there. The facility had an evaluation on July 7, 1995.[10] Weekly sessions would be held in The Labs to present any findings discovered in the Secondary Lab.[11]
Interestingly, The Prototype was contained in The Labs, even after The Shelf was built,[12] possibly so the scientists could study him whenever they pleased. He also continued to live there after The Hour of Joy. Following this event, he brought the orphans from Playcare into the laboratory, who apparently still remain there “alive but sleeping” during The Player's journey through the factory in 2005.[13] The Prototype also kept The Doctor alive for his knowledge and the latter suggested that he be given access to The Labs to help with The Prototype's elusive project, but he sternly denied this request.[14]
Trivia[]
- The location is the place where most of the biological toys were created and experimented on as part of the Bigger Bodies Initiative.
- The location is also likely the place where The Prototype is taking the collected bodies of his victims, as seen in Chapter 2: Fly in a Web and Chapter 3: Deep Sleep.
- Since The Labs contain Port-A-Lounges[10] and Chapter 5 might take place there, Port-A-Lounges might be a stealth mechanic in the chapter's gameplay.
