The Doctor's Bodies are mechanical vessels that The Doctor uses to protect his brain and kill intruders. They are secondary antagonists in Chapter 4: Safe Haven.

Appearance[]

The Doctor's Bodies have a TV for a head, and long robotic arms and digitigrade legs. They wear torn lab coats stitched together, while others are seen inside full white cloaks. Certain bodies move using a system similar to how a marionette is controlled, being hooked up to that system by a wire. When the protagonist is spotted by them, a yellow eye surrounded by fingers and lighting bolt symbols appear on the screen before turning into a larger, chaotic red eye.

Personality[]

They do not have a personality of their own as they do not do anything, but what The Doctor wants.

History[]

As of now, there is no mention of these automatons to be found anywhere within any known documentation from Playtime Co.. The Doctor states in Chapter 4 that "Elliot's machines are nothing to [him]" which would confirm that Elliot Ludwig created these robots, if it wasn’t unclear exactly what "machines" he was referring to, as he could have also been referring to The Player's GrabPack.

Trivia[]

  • They are the first antagonists in the Poppy Playtime series who are not living experiments.
  • They were first teased (unbeknownst to the community) in the final image found in the Chapter 4 Icepick ARG where The Doctor tells the viewer that they were warned, with the studs in their spine being seen in the foreground.
  • Many fans like to call them Sarley Hawyers, originating from the YouTuber PoppyTheory who coined the nickname.
  • Their purpose may have been to allow Harley Sawyer to carry out physical procedures whenever and however Playtime Co. directed him.
  • Even after a decade of unuse, The Doctor’s Bodies can still move and function well. This could be attributed to Playtime Co.'s obsession with cleaning, to stop rust from forming on the machines.[5]
    • However, the presence of rust on Harley’s other bodies could indicate that either he or someone else had been cleaning them but stopped after The Hour of Joy began, or the dust could have formed recently between 1995 and 2005.
    • Due to the risk of contamination, it is unlikely that Playtime Co. utilized Harley’s other bodies for physical procedures, as machine-induced germs could persist despite repeated cleaning efforts. Furthermore, The Doctor’s bodies may exhibit rust, though this likely formed recently or some time following The Hour of Joy. (Additional warning: some of these points are hypothetical and require further evidence for confirmation. Certain aspects may also be speculative or a stretch based on the current information available, but could be plausible to some degree).
  • In the Chapter 4 Cinematic Trailer: The Doctor, The Doctor's body is seen in a full cloak. This was later implemented in Patch 6.
  • As shown in concept art, the bodies always had a white cloak. The reason the cloak appeared black in the trailers was likely due to the lighting.
