“ | Uh, something dangerous is going on and I-I'm sure it wasn't on purpose, I'm sure it was just some big mistake, but... I saw what I saw.

— Rowan Stoll, Recording 01 |
Rowan Stoll was the Head of Information Technology at Playtime Co. In 1991, he was targeted by the company after he raised his concerns about Huggy Wuggy's moving eyes, which was followed by his discovery of the Bigger Bodies Initiative. Rowan was eaten by Boxy Boo before he could release classified information.
Rowan debuted in the Rowan Stoll Recordings, a series of tapes exclusively downloadable on Rowan Stoll's Computer Database secured on his FTP server.
Appearance[]
Rowan has dark brown hair and brown eyes, along with stubble on his chin. He wears circular glasses and the generic Playtime Co. employee outfit: a yellow long-sleeved polo shirt with a Playtime Co. ID lanyard. He wore dark blue khakis as seen in his final recording.
Personality[]
Judging by the tapes, Rowan appeared to be excellent with computers, as he was the Head of Information Technology at Playtime Co. He also had a lot of power in his department, being able to arrange for the factory's servers to be shut down for maintenance or swept for leaked company secrets. Originally, he cared about the company and investigated anything Playtime Co. might have inadvertently done that would damage their reputation, even if it was regarded as a joke to his colleagues. He also seemed scared of Leith Pierre, as he constantly stuttered in the recordings; however, he could just have trouble speaking.
Once he discovered Playtime Co.'s Bigger Bodies Initiative, he lost all faith in the company, doing everything he could to expose their vile deeds to the public. His fear of Leith Pierre also increased exponentially, with Rowan stating that he "is a different person entirely." After a failed attempt on his life, Rowan became paranoid, believing he would die by Playtime Co.'s hand.
History[]
Twitter Account/Employee Confidentiality Agreement[]
Rowan Stoll was born on April 11, 1960.[1] He was hired at Playtime Co. around October 20, 1986 when he received the Employee Confidentiality Agreement form. Rowan would become Head of the IT department.[2]
On May 9, 1988, Rowan made a post asking an unspecified receiver to stop querying him about fixing the Puzzle Pillar machines and to call a mechanic instead, explaining he works with computers and not machines.[3] On July 24, 1990, after fixing the company's phone line, Rowan added a piano tune that played while on hold.[4]
Rowan Stoll Recordings (Recordings 01 and 02)[]
On March 30, 1991, Rowan attempted to catch the attention of Leith Pierre by making a recording, regarding the possibility that the eyes in the Huggy Wuggy statue in the Main Lobby secretly held nanny cameras. This followed multiple tour guests complaining that Huggy Wuggy was staring at kids, and although seeming like a joke, Rowan believed that this was true. Leith had already said he didn't want to hear more about the case, but Rowan hoped he would understand the situation.
On May 28, Rowan sent another recording to Leith, apologizing and backtracking his previous statements. He explained that he talked to a maintenance worker and that the man simply failed to lock Huggy's eyes in place, causing them to dangle. Rowan told Leith the case is dropped and that there will be no more videos from him.
Later, Rowan started uncovering confidential information about the company, including their human experiments. In response to Rowan's discoveries, Playtime Co. took away Rowan's pension and issued multiple disciplinary actions. On July 10 or 11, the company sabotaged Rowan's car, causing a tire to fly off while he was on the interstate, nearly killing him.
Your gift has finally arrived.[]
Sawyer had his own unique idea to deal with Rowan. He turned to his first successful Bigger Bodies creation, Boxy Boo, and decided that he should be the disposal method for troublesome employees like Rowan.
Rowan Stoll Recordings (Recording 03)[]
On July 15, Rowan recorded his final video made to be found by someone outside of Playtime Co. Distressed about dying soon, he explained he scheduled a maintenance shutdown for the servers the following week. He stated that while they were down, he would release the evidence and run.
Written Letter to Mama[]
On the same day of his last recording, Rowan wrote a letter to his mother using his Employee Confidentiality Agreement form. He told her he's going away and not to come looking for him. Rowan provided an IP address to an FTP server he had created containing all the evidence and asked his mother to use it on his computer and to take what she finds to the police.
Orientation Notebook[]
Human Resources realized Rowan's intentions and wrote a memo to Security, stating, "We recommend steps are taken to deal with this employee."[5]
Stoll's Demise[]
At an unspecified time, Rowan decided to visit an area in the factory, possibly the backstage of the Theater. There, he encountered Boxy Boo's idle box. Rowan walked up to it only for Boxy to spring his square head toward the 31-year-old employee, swallowing him alive. Rowan was Boxy's first victim,[5] his death being captured by the Virtual Security System.
Playtime Co. Memorandum[]
Presumably after Rowan's demise, a memo was issued for Playtime Co. employees on July 20, notifying them of an upcoming computer database sweep by IT due to "security issues". Despite this document being signed off with Rowan's name, its contents and the way it's written practically confirm that it was actually written by a higher-up.
The Doctor (VHS tape)[]
In 1993, when mentioning Sawyer and the various incidents that he was the fault for, Leith Pierre brought up the Stoll situation.
Theorizing[]
A redacted report talks about a dead employee found with puncture wounds on his corpse. If this was talking about Rowan, it means that he had been dead for weeks before being found and a police report regarding his disappearance had been filed.
