The Power Cells, also known as Batteries, are items found within Chapter 3: Deep Sleep and Chapter 4: Safe Haven of Poppy Playtime.
These items are used to power or activate devices or machines.
Appearance[]
The Power Cells are rectangular in shape, with both the top and bottom parts being rusty yellow in color. At the top, there are four screws at the corners, and in the center there is a black handle with stripes in the center. In the middle, there are green stripes on both the top and bottom, with an extensive black color between them, and all these features are present on all four corners. Inside the black color, on the front and back, there is a lightning bolt symbol, while on the left and right sides, there is a Playtime Co. symbol.
There is a large cyan Power Cell intended for the Gas Production Zone. It has mostly similar characteristics to a common Power Cell, but with some differences, besides the color and size, on one side it has cyan squares, with the Playtime Co. logo placed vertically on the left side and the phrase "HIGH PERFORMANCE BATTERY" written on the right, and at the top of that side it says "CAUTION," in addition to the upper part where the handle is located, which has what looks like a wide cover and another thin one on opposite sides.
Obtainability[]
The Power Cells can be obtained depending on the location and in different positions, such as on the floor, hidden in vents, or even inside their sockets.
Usage[]
The Power Cells have the primary function of activating devices, such as doors, gates or machines, when inserted into their sockets, as well as some secondary functions such as activating air steams in the Safe Room, which prevents CatNap approaching during his bossfight against The Player. When inserted, they are generally not removable, but there are certain places, such as the Holding Area and the Safe Room itself, where they can be removed and switched between sockets.
The Player can hold a Power Cell by its handle with any of their GrabPack hands, other than the Flare Hand.
Trivia[]
- The Power Cells are amongst several motifs of Hoppy Hopscotch in Chapter 3: Deep Sleep, this case being the lightning bolt symbol also present in her pendant.
- There is a way to make the power cell bigger in the puzzle in the Counselor's Office. To do this, grab it from the floor, pull the switch, and then let go of the power cell.
- This might be fixed by the developers at a later date.
- There is a glitch where The Player can grab the power cell and not trigger CatNap’s jumpscare. Normally if they try to grab it from outside, the door gets in the way. To not trigger the jumpscare, crouch while grabbing the Power Cell from the outside of the room. Doing this glitch will save time speed-running and stop CatNap from taking the Gas Mask.
- As seen in the nightmare sequence in Chapter 3, there previously existed a yellow power cell in an unseen section of the Playhouse.
- Ollie calls them batteries instead of Power Cells.
