Welcome to the Poppy Playtime Wiki, <insert name here>! This page is dedicated to outlining the Manual of Style, which details how we format our pages, use our templates, and present information on the wiki. We heavily advise that all users, regardless of experience with FANDOM, take an extensive look at the Manual of Style if the user wishes to get involved in contributing on the wiki as it can easily prevent common mistakes, poor writing, and adhere to our settled formats established on hundreds of pages.

All pages must adhere to the rules outlined below and make correct use of each template. Failure to do so, as stated in the Wiki Rules, may result in a warning or, in severe cases, an indefinite block from the wiki. Please note that the functionality of certain templates may not display correctly on mobile devices, as we prioritize tablet and computer users.

#	Title	Explanation	Example
1.	Wikipedia	The Poppy Playtime Wiki encourages all users to familiarize themselves with the basics of Wikipedia's Manual of Style. This includes, but is not limited to, Wikipedia's stances on capitalization, italics, quotations, punctuation, dates & Times, numbers, vocabulary, and links.	N/A

Formal Writing	When contributing to the wiki, all editors must be capable of writing in a formal, consistent manner with no spelling mistakes to ensure that the wiki remains a proper reliable source for readers. Basic grammar is permissible however must be fact-checked to not inadvertently use unclear wording or phrases which may conflict with the contents surrounding the written topic. 2.	Language	The Poppy Playtime Wiki is an English-language wiki, and all content is written in US English. This means that American spellings are used. Additionally, content in languages other than English should be contributed to the respective language wikis, including the Spanish Wiki, Russian Wiki, or French Wiki.	'Color' not 'Colour.' 'Theater' not 'Theatre.' 'Gray' not 'Grey.'
3.	In-universe writing	When creating pages within the context of the timeline, we encourage all users to write according to specific events in the timeline. For instance, as of the creation of the Manual of Style, the most recent event in the Poppy Playtime timeline is the cliffhanger at the end of Chapter 4: "Safe Haven." Consequently, any events established prior to this must be written in the past tense. This practice will be maintained as new events unfold in the story. Similarly, this guideline applies to Project: Playtime, which should also be documented in the past tense.	"On January 22, 1993, Jack and his parents went to Playtime Co., Jack stood on the railing near the dough machines, however the faulty railing presumably broke under his weight as he tumbled and held on." 4.	Abbreviations	All characters and any articles with long, general titles must be referred to by name, with few exceptions. For instance, chapter articles can be referenced by their official title without the "Chapter" prefix or simply as "Chapter #." Additionally, character names may be abbreviated to their first names if they are mentioned multiple times in succession; however, the use of pronouns is encouraged in these cases. Referring to human characters by their surrname is required. 4.	Mascot vs Experiment	When writing about a character with an existing Bigger Bodies Initiative counterpart and who is part of their own titular character line, editors must differentiate between the toy and the experiment. The emphasis should be primarily on the bigger body iteration of the character when detailing their history. However, in discussions of backstory, it is important to clarify any mention of the toy's initial release to avoid confusion. Referring to a bigger body exclusively through their experiment number is prohibited aside from the overview and mentioning WHAT their handle is.	"CatNap is a toy apart of the Smiling Critters toy line. In 1990, a young orphan named Theodore Grambell was chosen to become Experiment 1188, the Bigger Bodies experiment title for CatNap." "CatNap is a toy apart of the Smiling Critters and piloted by Theodore Grambell under the influence of The Prototype. After being recalled due to a lack of a proper lavender scent, he would reside in Home Sweet Home."
5.	Stylization	If an article is considered worthy of its own stylization (such as colored text headers and page navigation), we encourage all users to ensure that the fonts and colors used are intelligible for everyone on the Poppy Playtime Wiki. We suggest avoiding colors that may blend into the wiki background in both Light and Dark modes as well as using miscellaneous/unintelligible fonts.	N/A
6.	Speculation	The Poppy Playtime Wiki heavily advises that all editors avoid interjecting speculation, assumed, or non-confirmed information when writing to not avoid confusion and solely keep the Poppy Playtime Wiki as an encyclopedia designed for allowing readers to come to their own conclusion. In the case that speculation of a specific character is extensive, users must put their speculation on its own dedicated field.	"The Prototype's real identity is unknown." "The Prototype's real identity, while not known, is suggested to be Elliot Ludwig due to community speculation."
7.	Third person	When referring to the player (not to be confused with the character), the editor must refer to the player in third-person pronouns. Do not use terms like "We" or "You."	"Upon entering the Game Station, the player is greeted by Mommy Long Legs, who threatens to rip out their insides and eat them alive if they don't play her game." "Upon entering the Game Station, we are greeted by Mommy Long Legs, who threatens to rip our insides and eat us alive if we don't play her game."
8.	Dates	Dates, especially release dates, are encouraged to be written in the MM/DD/YYYY format. All dates with little exception should be written with numbers and all months should be written though text. When referring to years exclusively, they should always been written numerically. 9.	Numbers	Numbers 0-9 should be spelled out. Commas. should be used as thousand separators for numbers 1,000 and above. Periods should be used as decimal points.	"Nine casualties were reported." "9 casualties were reported." "1,245 days following its closure. "1245 days following its closure."
10.	Zalgo text	It is recommended to avoid using Zalgo or corrupted text on the wiki, except when referencing official media posts. This guideline aims to prevent the articles from being overwhelmed with excessive corrupted text, ensuring that the content remains accessible and readable for all users.	You.... #	Title	Explanation
1.	Criteria	When creating a page, the Poppy Playtime Wiki has already categorized all pages according to specific formats established by the staff team. Creating pages that deviate away from these categories is prohibited unless approved by an administrator, most prominently done to accommodate for new content. Additionally, all pages must be directly related to Poppy Playtime and should never reference topics outside of Mob Entertainment, including future projects or fan-made content related to Poppy Playtime.
2.	Page Scructure	Each page follows a specific format that all users must adhere to. Our structure typically includes the headings: Overview, Appearance, History, Trivia, Navigation, and References. Additional sections, such as Personality and Anatomy, may also be included. Pages that do not follow this structure create inconsistencies in our wiki.
3.	Page Title	It is important that all pages on the wiki are titled correctly. Generally, pages should be titled based on a character's full name, a location's official name, an item's official name, etc. For elements of Poppy Playtime that are named after another aspect, a suffix should be added to clarify their contents. For any content which has not been given an official name, it should be given a conjectured name (clarified on its page) based off its contents
4.	Infoboxes	Infoboxes are intended to be informative yet short bursts of information that describe relatively common knowledge without going into detail. They should not be used for lengthy passages and should consist exclusively of one-word explanations for specific aspects of a character. When listing multiple items, the bullet list feature must be used, with increased indentations to show connections among similar aspects. Infoboxes regarding appearances should focus exclusively on the games and should not include any appearances from trailers, ARGs, or collaborations.
5.	Fonts	By default, the Poppy Playtime Wiki uses Arial as its default font. Fonts should be reserved exclusively for stylization on infoboxes, navboxes, templates, headers, and similar elements. Customizing a page to set its text to a specific font is prohibited. Additionally, using FANDOM's provided fonts is not allowed. To learn more about the custom fonts available on the wiki, see here.
6.	Credits	While the Poppy Playtime Wiki includes pages dedicated to developers, voice actors, artists, and other team members involved in the development of Poppy Playtime, each chapter features a unique Credits screen. The wiki aims to transcribe these credits onto the wiki using a dedicated sub-page linked from the base chapter page. When listing credits, please make sure that the page is accurate, uses the corresponding font, and is formatted to match their appearance in-game.
7.	Trivia	Each page features a Trivia section dedicated to covering out-of-universe facts, development details, in-game information, unused or repurposed content, and any additional facts that may not be suitable for inclusion in the main content of the page. While we encourage each Trivia section to be thorough, we discourage the inclusion of trivia related to fan-made content, intricate story details, or facts that may be considered low-quality or uninteresting.
8.	Speculation	The Poppy Playtime Wiki aims to serve as a source of information designed to store comprehensive details that enable theorists to draw their own conclusions, rather than simply endorsing the most widely accepted theories. When writing, particularly regarding the story of Poppy Playtime, speculation (whether outright or phrased as "It's presumed," "It's implied," etc.) should not be included on the page unless it is under a designated Speculation header.
9.	Links	As a comprehensive source of information, we require that all mentions of external topics related to Poppy Playtime link back to an article on the Poppy Playtime Wiki. To create a link, simply place double brackets at the beginning and end of the term you wish to link while in the source editor. For example, to link to a page on this wiki, use double brackets around the page name (i.e., [[Page Name]]). To display the link under a different name, use the format [[Name|Display Name]], which will appear as "Display Name." To link to a specific section of a page, use the format [[Page Name#Section]].
10.	External Links	External links are discouraged unless linking back to an official Mob Entertainment site, social media account, or media surrounding official/endorsed Poppy Playtime products. To link to an external website, use a single bracket on each end instead. For example, to link to Mob Entertainment's official website, write [https://www.mobentertainment.com Mob Entertainment site], which will appear as "Mob Entertainment site".
11.	Hidden comments	Hidden comments are a valuable feature that allows users to leave invisible notes for future editors regarding the page without affecting its content to the general public. To add a hidden comment, simply use "<!--comment-->" to write your message. While we encourage users to utilize this feature to avoid edit wars or to clarify on a topic, we strongly advise against overusing, ignoring, or abusing it. If there is a dispute regarding edits, please reach out to our administrators.
12.	Page Redirects	Page redirects can clutter the wiki, so it's advisable to redirect pages sparingly. Unnecessary redirects may result in an administrator deleting the redirected page. Please do not write on pages which contain a redirect.

#	Title	Explanation
1.	Uploading Files	When uploading files to the Poppy Playtime Wiki, please ensure that the uploaded image(s) in question adhere to FANDOM's Terms of Service. Furthermore, we discourage users attempting to manipulate the file in order to prevent it from being flagged by FANDOM. Predominantly, we will take action for uploading NSFW/pornographic content, inappropriate, leaked or fan-made material, or off-topic and duplicate files. Images specifically used for user pages are permitted, however use of fan-art requires the user to credit the artist. All uploaded files must be high quality or, at the very least, intelligible. In instances where new content release, low-quality files may be temporarily used as placeholders before being reuploaded in higher quality. Low-quality files must not be enhanced with AI and should be directly sourced from their origin. Frames from YouTube videos are not permitted unless they are of the highest quality and do not contain a watermark. Files must be properly named and should be on-topic. File names like "File:986c987123978e7a78687c0923487395723.png" are not permitted under any circumstances. Simple names such as "Playcare_Entrance.png" or "HuggyChase.jpg" are encouraged. Some mass-uploaded files may have prefixes, and we encourage users to use similar prefixes for consistency.
2.	Uploading Videos	For the most part, when uploading videos, all content officially released by Mob Entertainment should be added to the wiki for coverage purposes. Any official video that must be downloaded (such as those from the Rowan Stoll Computer Database ARG) should be substituted with a reupload from YouTube. Embedding videos in articles is prohibited. Therefore, we encourage users to showcase gameplay through GIFs and audio via audio galleries. When uploading gameplay videos of a specific chapter, please ensure that the video does not contain any mods (such as RTX enhancing mods), fan-made content, or commentary.
3.	Uploading Audio	When uploading audio files, it is required that the sourced audio be extracted from the game's files using Unreal Engine extraction tools, provided the audio is linked to the game. This guideline also applies to uploading textures or mural artwork. We discourage users from uploading audio files that are recorded from gameplay, as these may contain background ambience or music.
4.	Creating Galleries	If a user wishes to create a gallery dedicated to a character, ensure that there are a minimum of six images before proceeding. Renders are included and can contribute to this total. When creating a gallery subpage, we strongly encourage users to follow the Gallery article rubric; however, some aspects of the rubric may be removed if there are no images that correspond to specific headings.
5.	Uploading GIFs	GIFs can be included in articles and galleries to capture major scenes from Poppy Playtime, such as a mascot's death, chase scenes, or showcasing gameplay mechanics. When uploading a GIF, ensure that it is properly compressed while maintaining relative quality (it is suggested to use Ezgif's GIF Compression Tool for optimal results). If a GIF is used on an article, it should be included in the Gallery as well, alongside static frames of the scene. The GIF should be between 3 to 8 seconds long, specifically highlighting a character and avoiding any swift or epileptic actions (such as sudden turns). If a GIF contains dialogue between characters, ensure that subtitles are enabled and that the gameplay recording includes footage from the chapter set to its maximum video settings.
