Mommy Long Legs Commercial VHS is a VHS Tape recording released on April 7, 2022, and was featured as the opening cutscene for Chapter 2: "Fly in a Web" of Poppy Playtime. The tape itself plays an archived commercial for Mommy Long Legs recorded on February 2, 1991.
Analysis[]
Before the tape starts, an image shows Mommy Long Legs among other known Playtime Co. mascot toys standing in an abandoned basement. The tape then cuts to a black static screen. An edited version of a child's face can be later seen flickering before the commercial officially plays.
The advertisement plays, cutting to a series of kids playing with a Mommy Long Legs toy while on a playground as a Mommy Long Legs-themed Itsy-Bitsy song plays. As this happens, Poppy Playtime whispers to The Player, asking them to wake up. The advertisement continues, showcasing Mommy's ability to stretch extreme distances.
After the Itsy-Bitsy spider-themed song concludes, a male announcer introduces Playtime Co.'s new Elastic Plastic, explaining how this revolutionary technology allows Mommy Long Legs to stretch, pull, and twist Mommy in the most absurd ways. The narrator further explains that if you're having fun, Mommy's having fun. Poppy can be heard asking The Player to yet again wake up.
The narrator continues by informing viewers about the product before concluding the tape, however, before the Playtime Co. slogan finishes, the tape quickly cuts and the screen corrupts itself with black all over the Playtime logo. The tape quickly cuts to static before catching small glimpses of Mommy with this same dark, grainy filter. The camera then plays a small recording of the playground set used in the commercial with this same dark, grainy filter.
The tape continues, showcasing what seems to be an unknown, colorful room. The tape yet again cuts back to static, before revealing short body-camera footage of an unknown figure (presumably The Player) running directly into an unlit Make-a-Friend hallway. The tape cuts back to static. As the corrupted tape concludes, Poppy Playtime's face can be seen directly in front of the camera. Poppy clearly asks The Player to wake up before the tape ends, transitioning into the logo for Chapter 2: "Fly in a Web".

Trivia[]
- The commercial VHS tape took place the same day the Playtime Co. Merch Tape was recorded. It also said it started at 5 (most likely at 5 PM). Leith Pierre even said so from the commercial VHS tape.
- If the player listens closely during the advertisement, they can hear Poppy asking them to wake up. It's possible The Player was dreaming about the advertisement before waking up in the Poppy Room.
- The same thing may have happened with CatNap Recall in the opening of Chapter 3.
- The song in the commercial is sung to the tune of "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider" in reference to Mommy Long Legs being spider-themed.
- Alongside the topic of the "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider" tune, in the files, there is an unused version of this tape with the only change being the audio. In the old version, a man who has a more classic, mature voice sings the song instead of children. Audio can be heard below.
