Marie Payne was an orphan test subject who would eventually be turned into Mommy Long Legs. Her name is given on the Transfer Request item in Chapter 2: Fly in a Web.

Appearance & Personality

Marie's original appearance and personality are unknown, beyond the behaviour outlined in the above report. But as Mommy Long Legs, she does have a hostile relationship between staff, which may partly be due to the trauma she experienced at Playcare.

History

Marie is the subject of an incident report submitted by Playcare Counselor Claire Harper, on February 8th of an unknown year (before 1991). The report details a violent nightmare that Marie experienced after falling asleep, which a counselor believed may have been caused from Marie being bullied by a group of boys. She even had to be held down on a stretcher for safe transport.

In January 1991, Marie once again suffered from a very similar incident following administration of the Red Smoke by CatNap in Home Sweet Home. This caused her to envision a colorless monster, resulting in extreme paranoia and wariness in waking. Shortly later, Marie was experimented on, and reanimated as Experiment 1222, Mommy Long Legs.

Trivia

• In the report, Harper refers to Marie as "my little girl", possibly hinting that Harper had developed a motherly relationship with Marie.
• Before the Chapter 3 Interactable ARG, It was theorised that Marie Payne used to work at Playtime Co. which would make her older, but that was debunked.
• Marie's hand can be seen reaching out in artwork for the countdown to 2026.
  • It is similar in size to Matthew and Kevin's hands, implying Marie was a preteen when selected.
