— Marcas Brickley |
Marcas Brickley is a minor character in Poppy Playtime, who made an appearance in Chapter 2: "Fly in a Web" within a VHS Tape.
Appearance[]
Marcas has brown hair and a brown beard. He wears a baggy yellow polo with a Playtime Co. ID lanyard. It is unknown what pants he wears, as they are not visible.
Personality[]
Judging by the VHS Tape, Marcas seems to be a hard-working employee. It seems he can get scared easily because of his encounter with a mysterious creature. He has a very thick Irish accent, hinting that he may be from Ireland. He seems to be amicable as he doesn't respond to Leith Pierre's dismissive attitude. He also seems to be quite afraid of what he saw and insists to Leith Pierre that it was definitely not human.
Trivia[]
- It’s implied that the creature Marcas saw was PJ Pug-a-Pillar, as he described what he saw was “fifty feet long with a thousand legs.”
- This was later confirmed in the Orientation Notebook.
- Marcas is played by renowned Youtuber Seán McLoughlin, also known as Jacksepticeye. In his "Let's Play" of the game, he explained how he got into his character and recorded the clip.[2]
- Jack recorded his video for Mob Entertainment months before Chapter 2's release.
- As he was required to record in a place that resembles an office, Jack mentioned how it took ages to find a space in his house that resembled one. It also took a long time to get the audio right since the room he recorded in contained no sound padding.
- To match the color scheme of Playtime Co., Jack was required to wear a yellow shirt.
- The lanyard this character wears was made by Jack from scratch.
- He combined a lanyard, a piece of paper printed with a fake barcode, his character's name, and the Playtime Co. logo, which he found on Poppy Playtime's merchandise website. The card's design was done using Adobe Photoshop.
- Leith Pierre asking Marcas to get him a coffee may be a reference to Jacksepticeye's coffee company, Top of the Mornin Coffee.
- In Jack's "Let's Play" for Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep", he explained he was asked to return as Marcas, but couldn't due to scheduling conflicts.[3]
- The fact that this was suggested may imply that Marcas might've stayed a little longer at Playtime Co. rather than being fired soon after.
- Since Marcas didn't know about PJ Pug-a-Pillar, this tells us that most of the employees did not know what was going on at Playtime Co.
- This is further proven by a sentence in the Warrenbach Construction Letter, which says, "This project should only be known about by those with the authority at Warrenbach, and those with the authority here at Playtime."
- It is likely that Marcas was killed or fired by Leith Pierre due to his namesake tape having "Potential Problem" in it and the fact that his knowledge of an experiment could jeopardize the secrecy of the Bigger Bodies Initiative. It is also not helped that Leith asked him if anyone else knew what he saw, implying that he wanted to know if anybody else knew about the toy's existence.
