Gameplay[]
Huggy Wuggy is one of three antagonists featured in PROJECT: PLAYTIME. He possesses aggressive tactical abilities that allows him to catch Specialists off-guard with ease. However, due to his height, he cannot crawl through small spaces and must crouch to enter ventilation shafts, which significantly slows him down.
Huggy Wuggy currently has two abilities that offer various strategic options. His first ability, Huggy Sentry, allows him to deploy a Miniature Huggy toy, which will alert him when another Specialist enters its vicinity. These sentries are primarily effective when placed inside ventilation shafts, near Puzzle Pillars, exits, or other prominent areas, especially tight hallways. However, they only notify Huggy if a player has previously been in the area and do not indicate the current location of the Specialist or whether they have left the vicinity.
Huggy's second ability, Charge Hug, allows him to rush forward in a straight line. While this move can serve as a mobility boost, if he collides with another Specialist, he will eliminate them instantly, regardless of their health. However, Specialists can counter this ability by reacting quickly and dashing away from Huggy's line of sight.
In general, Huggy Wuggy specializes in rushing head-first into the chase, mostly relying on brute force to capture his prey.
Survivor Tutorials[]
In the Phase 2 tutorial, Huggy Wuggy can be seen roaming around the area as the hostile entity. After obtaining the Toy Parts, it is stated that "feeding time" has accidentally began though it was meant to be scheduled for noon. It is stated to stay away from Huggy Wuggy while he makes chase with the numerous survivors around the area. During the time, the player must use a series of Grapple Handles and Dash Handles to escape Huggy while also reviving their teammates from the Feeding Pit. Eventually, it becomes impossible for the player to outrun Huggy and they are sent down into the Feeding Pit. Eventually, they are sent back up from the pit and escape from the area through the Playtime Express alive.
Huggy Wuggy's first appearance in the original Survivor Tutorial
In the legacy version of the Survivor tutorial (the original name prior to the release of Phase 2: Incineration), Leith Pierre was the instructor, instead of his assistant Micath Pierciado. For training purposes, the player is the only person rather than a series of employees. After being introduced to the Puzzle Pillars, a Toy Part manifests just around the corner into an office with an open Crash Door. Huggy Wuggy's infamous roars can be heard on the other side, and Leith Pierre instructs the player to close the door while he walks past the wall.
As the player pulls down the toy creation mechanism, the player finds themselves trapped in the room as Huggy Wuggy can be heard entering the room. The player is ordered to enter a Port-A-Lounge sitting in that room and to hold their breath in the room as Huggy passes the room. Just as the player's coast seems clear, Huggy dashes towards them as they leave the Port-A-Lounge and drags them into the Feeding Pit, where they are subject to the Wuggies. The player finds themselves enduring the Wuggies once more, however they are shortly recovered by an employee named "Bill". You, Bill, and another employee Johnny, all escape the tutorial area through the Playtime Express.
Monster Tutorial[]
In the Monster Tutorial for PROJECT: PLAYTIME, it is revealed that Huggy Wuggy plays a vital role as one of the selected toys assigned by a mysterious entity to act as a source of food to the smaller, more vulnerable experiments such as the Wuggies. These creatures are fed with the remains of the Resource Extraction Specialists, employees hired by Leith Pierre to be sent into the factories monster-infested areas and attractions in an ill-fated attempt to create more giant toys.
Trivia[]
Huggy Wuggy's model in Poppy Playtime is confirmed to be 18 ft, while his model in PROJECT: PLAYTIME is just over half this height, being 10 ft, as confirmed by Micath Pierciado in the Phase 2 Survivor Tutorial. These differences probably aren't lore-related as both games take place in the same universe, but are probably just for game design reasons.
