| Hand Scanners |
The Hand Scanners are gameplay mechanics used within the Poppy Playtime games.
These mechanics allow players to use their GrabPack hands to access other places and are often utilised for general gameplay.
Appearance[]
Most Hand Scanners appear as black squares, on top of which are symbols for the type of hand used for the respective scanner. Above these are sorts of loading bars which show the scanning progress, and it is common for the Blue and Red Hands to press these scanners. This type of scanner usually opens gates and is located above them.
Other types of scanners contain wires and parts which show the word "READY..." upon completion of a scan. This type of scanner is commonly found in The Shelf, mainly when scanning Blue and Omni-Hands.
Usage[]
PROJECT: PLAYTIME[]
Once the Specialists have collected all of the Toy Parts and sent them to the train, they often have to call said train to their location by using a special type of Hand Scanner.
Chapter 1: A Tight Squeeze[]
When The Player has received the GrabPack at the Security Office, they return to the Main Entrance and turn left where the reception is located, passing through one of the turnstiles and arriving at a room containing a Blue Hand Scanner. They then use their Blue Hand on this scanner and wait a few seconds for the gate to open, marking their first use of Hand Scanners.
In Storage and Supply, after inserting all the fuses into the Control Panel, causing a crane to pick up and drop a glass case containing the Red Hand, The Player picks it up and then uses it and the Blue Hand on the two nearby Hand Scanners to unlock the hatch that leads to the Vent Puzzle, marking their first use of the Red Hand on a Hand Scanner.
Chapter 4: Safe Haven[]
In The Shelf, long after The Player has lost the Red Hand, The Player finds a new one on the body of a dead guard and they use it on various Red Hand Scanners which unlock higher security areas. As they venture deeper into the prison, they find Blue Hand Scanner devices that allow them to open other doors in the facility.
Later on, they obtain the Omni-Hand, essentially providing them with executive access in the factory. The Player uses their new hand on various Omni-Hand Scanners to unlock the facility's most secure areas.
