The Flare Hand, sometimes referred to as the Orange Hand, is a GrabPack hand with the appearance of a finger gun that can shoot flares for a variety of purposes. It is obtained at the end of the School section of Chapter 3: Deep Sleep after killing Miss Delight.
This hand can be used to scare away enemies like the Mini Huggies and Ruined Critters, light up dark areas, and burn certain resources, such as rope and Liquid Nitrogen Canisters. It can hold a maximum of five flares and reloads automatically on a timer.
History[]
Chapter 3: Deep Sleep[]
Before The Player enters the Caverns, they find the Flare Hand in a container next to the Hoppy Hopscotch's cardboard cutout and collect it. They then make their way to the Playhouse, where they have to use the flares to fend off the Ruined Critters that reside there and to light up dark areas.
During the fight with CatNap, The Player must use flares on the CatNap hallucinations to tell whether he is really there.
Chapter 4: Safe Haven[]
During their expedition in the prison, The Player comes across various Nightmare Critters and Mini Huggies which they fend off with the Flare Hand. It's also during this part of their journey that they find a new use for the tool: to burn through flammable materials.
During The Player's fight with Doey the Doughman, they have to use flares to shoot the Liquid Nitrogen Canisters to freeze Doey and saw him. At the final encounter with Doey, The Player uses the flares to detonate multiple Liquid Nitrogen Canisters to heavily subdue him, allowing them to defeat him.
