The relationship between 1188 and 1006 could pose a problem, at least somewhere down the line. Anytime the two are in a room together, 1188 follows 1006 around like a lost puppy.
Leith Pierre, Cross-Department Report

Cross-Department Report is a document found within the Leith Pierre Computer Search, an ARG created by Mob Entertainment to tease Chapter 3: Deep Sleep. Although it isn't present in any of the games, this document is related to a part of Playtime Co.'s lore and history.

The document is a cross-department report from Playtime Co. that presents an evaluation of CatNap, focusing on his integration into Playcare after the experiment procedure. The report includes the views of Harley Sawyer, Stella Greyber and Leith Pierre, each representing the Research, Playcare and Innovation departments.

Location[]

In the ARG's computer simulation, the File Explorer had to be opened. From the root folder, the user had to access the "Innovation" folder. Next, they had to access the "Bigger Bodies Initiative" folder, which was protected by the password "etern4l". Then, they had to access the "1188" folder. Finally, they had to access the "addendum" folder, which was protected by the password "lavenderomen". Once inside, the system immediately displayed a preview of the document, allowing you to read the contents without having to open an external viewer. There was also the option of manually downloading the document image.

Plot[]

The document reports on CatNap and takes place on February 20, 1991. It presents an analysis of his condition following his intervention and subsequent incorporation into Playcare.

The first assessment is from Harley Sawyer. He reports that three months have passed since CatNap's intervention and one month since his incorporation into Playcare. Sawyer notes that CatNap has easily adapted to his assigned tasks, meeting all the objectives that had been set for him. Although the initial intervention had certain difficulties, as it lasted four hours longer than expected and was followed by a rather tumultuous adjustment period. However, CatNap's mental parameters remained unchanged from those he had before the operation. Despite these problems, Sawyer mentions that the experiment has been a resounding success, even claiming that this success rivals that of the Huggy Wuggy experiment.

The following assessment is from Stella Greyber. Describing the first encounter between the children and CatNap, Stella explains that half of them were frightened and several even burst into tears. She notes that she had expected this reaction, recalling that she had opposed the use of CatNap at Playcare from the outset for precisely that reason, and making it clear that the other department heads were already aware of her position on the matter. However, over time, many children began to grow fond of him: some even came to consider him a friend, describing him as gentle and somewhat shy, traits they found endearing, and those who still distrust him now accept his presence without fuss. Despite this, Stella remains cautious about the way CatNap is being used, although she makes it clear that his impact on Playcare's operations has been positive.

Finally, the final assessment comes from Leith Pierre. He confirms that CatNap has calmed down considerably in recent weeks. After the experiment, he exhibited erratic behaviour, but this seems to have been resolved and CatNap has now integrated into Playcare without any major complications. However, Leith warns that this does not mean that his concerns have disappeared. One of them is the relationship between CatNap and The Prototype, which, according to him, could become a problem over time. He mentions that CatNap tends to follow 1006 around like a lost puppy, something he finds strange, and that it is even stranger that 1006 does not seem bothered by this attention or, if he does care, does not show it. Pierre recalls that detective Gerad Lockehart had theories about this behaviour in 1989, although he admits he is not convinced by them. He emphasises that, while CatNap is docile at present, he is also highly impressionable, especially with everything The Prototype does. And he finds it worrying how quickly CatNap's behaviour can change depending on what The Prototype wants.

CROSS-DEPARTMENT REPORT

In relation: 1188
Date: 2/20/91

Dr. Harley Sawyer

On Behalf of Research
It has been 3 months since 1188's procedure, and one month since his introduction to Playcare. I'm pleased to say he's taken to his tasks like a fish to water, meeting virtually every one of the objectives we set out for him. The initial procedure had its challenges, taking 4 hours longer than we had hoped, followed by a rather tumultuous adjustment period. Still, his mental test metrics were virtually unchanged from pre-op.
Now that he's "on the job" as it were, we can say for certain that the outcome has been a resounding success, rivaling that of even 1170.

Stella Greyber

On Behalf of Playcare
When the children first saw this bigger bodies CatNap, half of them were terrified. More than one burst into tears. I can't say I didn't expect this. The other department heads will note I was never a fan of using 1188 in Playcare for exactly this reason. The good news is that in the time since, many of the children have warmed to him. Some of them even consider him a friend now. He's gentle, even a bit shy, and I think the kids find that endearing. The ones still weary of him at least now accept his presence without fuss.
I still have reservations about how he is used, but I admit his overall impact on Playcare operations has been a positive one.

Leith Pierre

On Behalf of Innovation
1188 has calmed down a lot in recent weeks. There were issues regarding erratic behavior after the experiment, but those seem to have all been ironed out, and CatNap has been integrated into Playcare without much issue. That's not to say I don't still have concerns. The relationship between 1188 and 1006 could pose a problem, at least somewhere down the line. Anytime the two are in a room together, 1188 follows 1006 around like a lost puppy. It's an odd sight, and what's more is 1006 doesn't seem to mind (or if he does, he's not showing it). If I remember correctly, Lockeheart had some theories on the matter back in 89', but I'm not convinced of anything either way.

What I know is this: CatNap may be docile now, but he's also highly impressionable, especially to anything the Prototype says or does. I worry how quickly his behavior could change depending on the whims of that temperamental thing.

Trivia[]

  • Despite Sawyer being the Head of Special Projects, he interestingly wrote on behalf of research for this document, rather than Eddie M. N. Ritterman.
  • This document reveals that the Theodore Grambell incident took place in 1989. Since The Prototype was heavily involved in said incident, it also reveals that he existed prior to the Bigger Bodies Initiative which began in 1990 after Harley Sawyer was hired.
  • The "tumultuous" aspect of CatNap's adjustment period, mentioned in this document, is in reference to his massacre, an event that was revealed in the Orientation Notebook months after the ARG concluded.
  • This document may be one of the most lore-heavy documents in the entire franchise, as it reveals several important dates in the timeline, features 3 of Playtime Co.'s executives, reveals more information about Poppy Playtime's main antagonist, The Prototype, and even reveals that Huggy Wuggy, who had previously been deemed the "optimal outcome" to the experiments,[1] later had this title rivalled by CatNap.
