Transcripts[]

Doey bio[]

Originally hitting the market in the late 1950s, Doey Dough was Playtime’s second major commercial hit, and has been periodically revamped and reinvigorated for each new decade. With Doey Dough, you can re-create your favorite characters or let your imagination run wild (if you want to keep it as Doey, we promise we won’t judge).

Yarnaby bio[]

A lion with a heart of gold and a smile that touches your soul! Originally released as part of a wildlife conservation campaign in the 1970s, Yarnaby has seen regular releases in the years since. Believe us when we say: Yarnaby wants nothing more than to make you his entire world!

Pianosaurus bio[]

Originally released as part of a full set of musicians, Pianosaurus served as the harmony for the group, playing out his beautiful piano tunes through his keys/teeth. Remember what happened to the dinosaurs? Yeah, so do these guys. Don’t worry though, these punks think it’s all kind of a joke.

The Doctor bio[]

Doctor Harley Sawyer, commonly referred to as “The Doctor”, was the originator of the Bigger Bodies Initiative, and a former pupil of Elliot Ludwig. Ruthless, egotistical, and completely amoral, he orchestrated the systemic experimentation of hundreds to pave his elusive “golden path”, only to be subjected to the same experimentation. His mind made into a prison of wires and terminals, his project stolen from him, he’d become just as much a prisoner as the experiments he created. In the years since the Hour of Joy, the Doctor has become a monster unburdened by any pretense of humanity, the final steps on his “golden path” seemingly within his reach.

Bobby BearHug bio[]

A kind, caring soul, Bobby BearHug shows compassion for everyone, and for everything. People and places and things, large or small, are all receivers of her love. Each is enriched by this attention and affection, and in turn, so is she.

Boxy Boo bio[]

Though tucked into a box, its love can’t be contained. With springy limbs, little marble eyes, and a cubical head that splits open like a ring box, Boxy is every bit the cutie-pie children can fall in love with. But be warned, he might surprise you from time to time (don’t worry, that’s by design).

Bubba Bubbaphant bio[]

Bubba Bubbaphant is the brains of the critters. Bright and attentive, he helps his friends make smart choices, ensuring they all grow to be brilliant in their own unique way.

Bunzo Bunny bio[]

A yellow rabbit with all the fun and energy a growing kid could require! With his symbols, green overalls, a little green party hat, and button eyes, he’s always ready for a party.

CatNap bio[]

CatNap is a calming presence for the critters and ensures he and his friends always have the right amount of sleep to jumpstart the morning's play! End of the day, there's nothing CatNap enjoys more than watching his friends sleep soundly.

CraftyCorn bio[]

A champion for color and creativity. CraftyCorn understands the importance of art, and sharing it with others. Crayons, pencils, paint, or words on the page, CraftyCorn can see beauty in everything.

DogDay bio[]

This is DogDay, the sunny, strong, and determined leader of our critters! Each trusts him to find the bright side in any situation, and to have a friendly word of encouragement should they feel down. He'll always keep his friends going, no matter what.

PickyPiggy bio[]

What's more important than play and learning? PickyPiggy knows the answer. A playful body and keen mind are fueled by what's put into them, which is why she encourages her friends to eat a well-balanced diet. Secretly, PB&J's are her favorite food.

Hoppy Hopscotch bio[]

Unafraid to hop where others might sit, Hoppy is the friend everyone needs to maintain their energy and enthusiasm. While sometimes loud or impatient, she'll always hop beside her friends, even if it means slowing up to keep their pace.

Huggy Wuggy bio[]

A favorite of kids everywhere since his release in 1984, Huggy Wuggy has become synonymous with the Playtime brand. For the little extra love and attention your kids might want, take a chance on a Huggy Wuggy; he’ll give the kind of hug no kid will ever want to let go of. And truthfully, we doubt Huggy will want to let go either.

KickinChicken bio[]

This is KickinChicken, the cool kid of the crew, and he maintains that sense of cool through anything, even in the most tense of situations. Knock him down, and he'll pick himself up, brush himself off, and ask: "What's next?"

Kissy Missy bio[]

The dash of pink to Huggy’s blue, Kissy’s the cute-as-a-button friend every little Huggy Wuggy needs. Are they friends? MORE than friends? That’s up to YOU. One thing’s for sure, one’s not complete without the other.

Miss Delight bio[]

Created alongside numerous other teacher toys, Miss Delight’s job was to teach children the Playcare-approved curriculum at the Schoolhouse and enforce the rules. Alongside her trusty weapon, Barb, she now enforces a much stricter set of rules under the Prototype, attacking anyone who trespasses on school grounds.

Mommy Long Legs bio[]

The first in a set of family-based toys using Playtime’s patented elastic plastic, Mommy Long Legs bends, stretches and pulls however you want! With so much fun wrapped into one little package, you’ll want to keep her around forever. And believe us, she’ll want to keep YOU too.

Poppy bio[]

The breakout success for the fledgling Playtime Company, Poppy was a revolutionary toy fitted with a voice box, allowing children worldwide to talk to their little dolly for the first time ever. Though it’s been decades since her release, our little Poppy remains near and dear to hearts everywhere. In many ways, it’s her warmth and care that remains at the foundation of all we do here at the Playtime Company

Prototype bio[]

Intelligent, cunning, and crafty, the Prototype is loved and respected by those loyal to him, while being simultaneously hated and feared by all others. Though little is currently known about the original experiment, his presence has been constant in the Player's journey. More will surely be revealed in due time.

Trivia[]

  • The Smiling Critters' bios are taken directly from the Critter Entries.
  • Huggy & Kissy's bios feature drawings that are artistically incongruent with the rest of the toy characters.
  • The Prototype & The Doctor's are the only bios written from a meta perspective. I.E. not in the voice of someone promoting them as toys.
    • This makes sense, since these two characters are the only non-toys within the collection.
  • Miss Delight's bio also makes reference to her in-game appearance.
