Bigger Bodies

DISCLAIMER: Not every known experiment is officially a Bigger Body, so they are not included on this list. For a full list of experiments, including non-Bigger Bodies, see Experiments.

No longer must we be tied to the size or morphology of our test subjects. 1160 represents an entirely new approach to the project, and is the proof that it can be done. He will be the first of this new initiative, the first of these "bigger bodies".
Harley Sawyer, Abridged Testing Notes: 1160

The Bigger Bodies are giant biological toy experiments that were created by Playtime Co. after Dr. Harley Sawyer proposed his "Bigger Bodies Initiative". These creatures were generally created by using the Playcare orphans as test subjects. They would be surgically transformed into a large toy body by the Lab scientists after being tested in the Game Station, and housed in Playcare.

This article contains information on all known Bigger Bodies that Playtime Co. created via the Bigger Bodies Initiative and Special Projects, by proxy.

Numbered Bigger Bodies[]

Experiment 1160: Boxy Boo[]

Experiment 1160, a.k.a. "Boxy Boo", was the 1160th experiment that Playtime Co. had created and the first successful Bigger Bodies Initiative experiment. Their procedure was done in 1990. Boxy Boo is a box-shaped figure with springs connecting his body to his appendages. He is also known to be very patient, as he waits for his prey to arrive when hungry. Additionally, Experiment 1160 is known to have enhanced mobility capabilities. Boxy Boo's role was to eliminate lower-ranking employees who were aware of the Initiative or had too much knowledge, as they could pose a threat or become liabilities.

Experiment 1163: Pianosaurus[]

Experiment 1163, a.k.a. "Pianosaurus", was the 1163rd experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their procedure was done in 1990. Experiment 1163 is a large, green, bipedal dinosaur that has piano keys running down the entire underside of his body, starting at the neck and ending at the tip of his tail. He has two small black eyes and three horns akin to a chameleon. His most notable feature is the small keyboard he has for teeth, bared in a wide grin. Experiment 1163 was ultimately deemed defective due to his behavioral issues (he acted aggressively towards anything that came near him) as well as an acute lack of motor coordination (he couldn't play his piano keys correctly or in tune); this ultimately led to him being reassigned for "testing".

Experiment 1166: Yarnaby[]

Previously known as Quinn Navidson, Experiment 1166, a.k.a. "Yarnaby", was the 1166th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their procedure was done in August 1990. Experiment 1166 is a leonine creature with a mane and fur composed entirely of multicolored yarn. His face bisects to reveal a large mouth hollowed out from the inside of his head. The hollowed-out portions are composed of bright crimson flesh, and the outer rims contain swollen gums lined with a ring of sharp jagged teeth. He is shown to have a complete lack of any cognitive function as his mind was similar to that of a stunted animal, but is known to have been fiercely loyal to Harley Sawyer and was both highly agile and strong. He would become very hostile and ferocious when aggravated.

Experiment 1170: Huggy Wuggy[]

Experiment 1170, a.k.a. "Huggy Wuggy", was the 1170th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their procedure was done in 1990. Experiment 1170 is a tall, slender creature with blue fur and a large, permanently smiling mouth filled with pointed teeth. He was deemed to be the optimal outcome for the Initiative due to his obedience and intelligence. He used to be part of security, watching over visitors by posing as a statue, but was also known to react aggressively when faced with hostility, attacking and eating people. 1170 managed to escape the facility in 1992, resulting in the deaths of several employees during the re-containment process.

Experiment 1174: PJ Pug-a-Pillar[]

Experiment 1174, a.k.a. "PJ Pug-a-Pillar", was the 1174th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their procedure was done in November 1990. Experiment 1174 is a long creature which is a hybrid of pug and caterpillar with fluffy, woolly segments on his body, and large, dilated black eyes with a grinning mouth showing multiple teeth. He was molded into a perfect role and is has a heightened sense of smell and hearing. He resided in the Game Station as one of the main mascots, being in charge of the Statues game. 1174, unlike the other mascots of the Game Station, survived and wasn't mauled to death by Mommy Long Legs.

Experiment 1176: Bunzo Bunny[]

Experiment 1176, a.k.a. "Bunzo Bunny", was the 1176th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their procedure was done in November 1990. Experiment 1176 is an anthropomorphic yellow rabbit with black eyes and two large buck teeth, while holding two golden cymbals. 1176 marked the point where Harley Sawyer was growing exhausted of creating experiments, as Sawyer saw the creations "limited" and thought they could be used for a better purpose. He resided in the Game Station as one of the main mascots, being in charge of the Musical Memory game. 1176 was mauled and killed by Mommy Long Legs after failing to catch The Player and is left hanging from the ceiling in the Game Station.

Experiment 1186: Bobby BearHug[]

Experiment 1186, a.k.a. "Bobby BearHug", was the 1186th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their procedure was done in November 1990. Experiment 1186 is an anthropomorphic, red-furred bear with white pupils and a wide, toothless smile, with a love-heart pendant. Despite the successful completion of the procedure to transfer an orphan girl into Bobby BearHug, three hours after awakening, Experiment 1186 showed worrying problems, such as continued spasms, issues within the nervous system, inability to speak or hear, and balance issues when trying to stand. These issues were severe enough to warrant consideration for further surgery to correct them. 1186 is a member of the Smiling Critters toys, and has been presented as a kind and loving soul to the others of the toy brand. As a member, the toy would expel a rose scent.

Experiment 1188: CatNap[]

Previously known as Theodore Grambell, Experiment 1188, a.k.a. "CatNap", was the 1188th experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their multi-hour procedure was done on November 20, 1990. Experiment 1188 is an anthropomorphic, purple-furred cat with black eyes, a wide toothless smile, and a crescent-moon pendant. He was the caretaker of Playcare, specifically the Home Sweet Home building, where he used his Red Smoke to put the children to sleep at night. He is also known for his devotion toward the Prototype, which was due to Theodore, the orphan who became CatNap, being saved by 1006 before his transformation. He had an infamous ability to release a gas from the back of his oesophagus that placed individuals in a deep sleep, with the risk of violent nightmares. He used to be a member of the Smiling Critters toy line, before he was recalled and removed from all promotional merchandise because of multiple reports of these same violent nightmares from children who owned a CatNap toy. While he was a Smiling Critter, the toy would have expelled a lavender scent.

Experiment 1222: Mommy Long Legs[]

Previously known as Marie Payne, Experiment 1222, a.k.a. "Mommy Long Legs", was the 1222nd experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their procedure was done in early 1991. Experiment 1222 is a large, slender creature bearing an uncanny resemblance to a pink-colored, four-legged spider. She has a motherly personality and remarkably stretchy limbs, hair, and fingers thanks to a curious polymer called Elastic Plastic. She was in charge of running the Game Station. She is also known to act aggressively towards anyone that is an adult, fails her, disobeys her, or cheats at any game in the Game Station. Notably, as opposed to various other Bigger Bodies experiments, the Bigger Bodies version of Mommy Long Legs was created before her toy.

Experiment 1322 (A, B, & C): Doey the Doughman[]

Previously known as Jack Ayers, Kevin Barnes and Matthew Hallard, Experiment 1322, a.k.a. "Doey the Doughman", was the 1322nd experiment that Playtime Co. had created. Their procedure was done in 1993. Unique amongst the other works of the Initiative, Experiment 1322 was created using three orphan test subjects instead of just one, likely in order to create an experiment that could perform multiple tasks, as this was one of the goals for 1322. The subjects used for Experiment 1322 were:

  • Subject 1322A (Jack Ayers): a young boy who was happy, innocent, and childlike who went to visit Playtime for a tour, but fell victim to a fatal vat of dough and was later used for the experiment;
  • Subject 1322B (Kevin Barnes): an orphan boy who exhibited neural abnormalities in the form of violent behavioral issues that compelled aggressive and antisocial behavior;
  • Subject 1322C (Matthew Hallard): an orphan boy who was older than most other orphans and described to be a "dream child" as he was charismatic and adored by all kids in Playcare, who thought of him as a leader due to his responsibility.
Experiment 1322 is a vaguely humanoid, amorphous mass made of a clay-like substance called Doey Dough, which gives him the ability to shapeshift and adopt multiple forms. This gives him a wide range of abilities, such as contorting or expanding his size, growing multiple limbs, strength augmentation, and slipping through small cracks and holes.

Unnumbered Bigger Bodies[]

These experiments do not yet have an order of creation or a revealed experiment number.

Bron[]

Bron is a toy produced by Playtime Co. in 1961. A Bigger Body form of him was created in the 1990s and appears in the Chapter 1 Official Trailer.

Daisy[]

Daisy is a rejected toy produced by Playtime Co. A Bigger Body form of her appears in the Chapter 2 Official Trailer, though it is unknown if this experiment canonically exists in the present day.

Kissy Missy[]

Kissy Missy is the female counterpart to Huggy Wuggy and is presumed to have been made around the same time as his Bigger Bodies counterpart, which is likely given that Experiment 1172 (who's implied to be Kissy) was a mere 2 experiments after Huggy. In Home Sweet Home, she can be observed looking at a photo of a young girl, though it is unknown if this was her prior to the experiment or someone else. She participated in the Hour of Joy, however, she would later ally with Poppy to stop The Prototype.

Miss Delight and her sisters[]

Miss Delight was one of several nearly identical copies, referred to by each other as sisters, who worked as teachers in the School building of Playcare. It is believed from her cutout that each may have specialized in different subjects, with her subject being biology. After the Hour of Joy, she was singled out by the others and denied food. This (combined with the fact that CatNap locked them in the School) led to her going insane and killing and eating the other teachers. She is also noteworthy as being more organic in appearance as due to the damage to her face, a full mouth can be seen.

DogDay[]

DogDay, the leader of the Smiling Critters, had his Bigger Body form appear inside Chapter 3: Deep Sleep, where a bisected DogDay revealed that there were other experiments based on the rest of the Critters, but each of them had died until only him and CatNap remained. He is, alongside Hoppy Hopscotch, Bobby BearHug, and CatNap, the only Smiling Critters who had their Bigger Body forms revealed.

Hoppy Hopscotch[]

Hoppy Hopscotch, a member of the Smiling Critters, had her Bigger Body form appear in a VHS tape inside Chapter 4: Safe Haven, accompanying Doey the Doughman. She is, alongside DogDay, Bobby BearHug and CatNap, the only Smiling Critters who had their Bigger Body form revealed.

Other Bigger Bodies Smiling Critters[]

While not all of them have been seen, Bigger Bodies of the entire Smiling Critters cast did exist. The four known Bigger Bodies counterparts that have been seen were CatNap, DogDay, Bobby BearHug, & Hoppy Hopscotch. Currently, the last Bigger Bodies counterparts yet to make an appearance are Bubba Bubbaphant, CraftyCorn, KickinChicken, and PickyPiggy, although it is currently unknown what Experiment 1187's appearance is.

Observations[]

  • Considering the idea of one test subject being chosen each week by Dr. White, November of 1990 seems very tight, with at least 16 experiments being produced within just 22 days time. However, it is possible that most of the experiments in between simply involved testing of the Elastic Plastic, as in the Project Proposal: 1188 documents, it is noted that the Elastic Plastic is still being tested, and isn't ready for use.
  • Though not confirmed, it is possible that the earlier experiments involved the testing of Playtime Co.'s products and/or the chemicals and materials. It is important to note that in the Orientation Notebook, there is a progress report written on the Red Smoke, highly implying that it was also considered an experiment.
    • The smaller creatures could possibly be created through a repeatable process, which is why they wouldn’t be considered 'experiments', as there was nothing experimental about them. Said repeatable process could be related to embryology, which was mentioned three different times in the Chapter 4 Icepick ARG.
