The Batteries are one of the utility items in Chapter 3: "Deep Sleep" required to progress the game. The Batteries are used to power a variety of machines in Playcare.
Appearance[]
Batteries are small, green items roughly the size of an adult's hand. They have a handle on their top, and they can be grabbed by any hand except the orange flare gun. There is also one larger, blue battery which is larger and a different color, but otherwise identical to the batteries.
Usage[]
They can be thrown onto the floor or into sockets, in which they will power whatever holds them.
Some batteries will open or close gates, power on electrical nodes for the green GrabPack hand, or create steam in vents to block CatNap's approach.
Some batteries can be removed from their socket once they are used. Others will be locked in place. It is not possible to tell which is locked in place until they are active.
The Player may hold two batteries in the hand at a time. The Player cannot use the GrabPack hand the battery is holding until the battery is dropped.
Trivia[]
- The batteries are amongst several motifs of the Smiling Critters character Hoppy Hopscotch in Chapter 3, this case being the lightning bolt symbol also present in her pendant.
- There is a way to make the battery bigger in the puzzle in The Counselor’s Office. To do this, grab the battery, (not picked up) pull the switch, and let go of the battery.
- This might be fixed by the developers at a later date.
- There is a glitch where The Player can grab the Battery and not trigger CatNap’s jumpscare. Normally if they try to grab it from outside, the door gets in the way. To not trigger the jumpscare, crouch while grabbing the Battery from the outside of the room. Doing this glitch will save time speed-running and stop CatNap from taking the Gas Mask.
- As seen in the nightmare sequence in Chapter 3, there previously existed a yellow battery in an unseen section of the Playhouse.
